2011 highlights

It’s fair to say 2011 had some peaks and troughs but we made it through relatively unscathed. We’ve eaten and cooked some interesting  things along with meeting some fabulous people. I can’t predict the food trends for next year, but I have a feeling that 2012 is going to be a great year to remember. For me highlights of the year include:

Writing for Marks & Spencer.

Teaching myself how to decorate cakes.

The cake decorating road test

Immy & Cam are the voice here when it comes to road testing products that are geared towards the kids market. On the same day we made My Daddy Cooks Sloppy Joes and Chocolate Salami we made some basic fairy cakes and spent an afternoon decorating them using products I had been sent to trial. My Daddy Cooks – Sloppy Joes

If you haven’t heard of My Daddy Cooks it’s a fab blog that involves Nick and his gorgeous 4-year-old son Archie cooking in their little kitchen together. The blog started in November 2009 when Nick became a stay-at-home dad and both Nick & Archie began to cook, film and post them as a vlog. My favourite video is the Baked fish in a salt crust for Archie’s reaction to the fish. What I love about the blog is that it is honest, realistic and the recipes really do work.  In May 2011 the My Daddy Cooks cookbook was released in both hardback and Kindle format.
